10th Pass But Practicing As Doctor: Cachar Police nabs 13th Quack Doctor in Cachar from Silchar

Cachar Police have tracked another fake doctor, taking the total number of such quack practitioners caught in Cachar district to 13. The latest arrest was made during a raid at a clinic in Silchar’s Ambicapatty area.

Police sources said that a team from Silchar Police Station conducted a raid at Healthy Unique Life Clinic and apprehended one person identified as Bipul Chandra Nath, who had been practising under the name Dr. B. C. Nath. Several incriminating documents were seized from his chamber. A case has been registered under Silchar Police Station Case No. 978/25 under relevant sections of law, and investigation is underway.

Addressing the media, Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, said, “We have been conducting a special operation against quack doctors in the district. Under this drive, we have caught another fake doctor from Ambicapatty, identified as Bipul Chandra Nath. He had been running his chamber for quite some time under the name Dr. B. C. Nath.”

Mahatta further revealed that Nath’s only academic qualification is matriculation, and he had no formal medical education. “He was pretending to be a doctor without any legitimate degree. During our search, we seized various forged and illegitimate documents. So far, we have caught a total of 13 such quack doctors in Cachar, and our operation will continue,” he added.

Police also recovered several certificates from Nath’s clinic, including one from the Council for Advancement of Medicine in Alternative Process, a practising registration certificate from the same council, and an MPD registration from the Indian Rural Medical Association.

Alternative medicine is the practice of medicine that differs from modern or allopathic medicine. Such practitioners do not hold an MBBS degree, as claimed by the accused in his certificate, because MBBS is strictly an allopathic qualification regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Degrees in alternative medicine fall under systems like Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, or Naturopathy, and only those registered under recognised councils such as AYUSH are legally allowed to practise.
