Sribhumi Police Arrests Four in RK Nagar Dacoity Case; Cash and Gold Recovered

In a major breakthrough, Sribhumi Police have arrested four individuals on Sunday (July 20) in connection with a daring dacoity at Thengargul village under Ramkrishnanagar Police Station in Sribhumi. Among those arrested is Tuton Das, identified as the mastermind of the robbery and is said to be a member of the BJP Yuva Morcha.

The incident took place between the intervening nights of July 15 and 16, when a group of five to six armed dacoits stormed the residence of two local businessmen, Rahul Paul and Rajdeep Paul. The gang reportedly looted over Rs. 2 lakh in cash and more than 20 tolas of gold ornaments from the house.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Tuton Das, Tapas Paul, Bappi Paul, and Sourav Paul. Police have recovered around Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash from the residence of Sourav Paul in Dolu, where the money was allegedly hidden by Tapas and Bappi Paul. In addition, tools used for breaking into the house were also seized.

Partha Protim Das, the Senior Superintendent of Sribhumi Police, said, “A case was registered under sections 302/2 and 311 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Based on technical inputs and investigation, we arrested four individuals. So far, we’ve identified around seven people involved. Further arrests will follow.”

The SSP further stated that the first arrest was made within 24 hours of the crime. He added that Tuton Das had lured the others into participating in the dacoity with the promise of “making easy money in a short time”, and had also roped in accomplices from outside the district.

The case remains under active investigation.
