15 Lakh Worth Arunachali Liquor Seized Near Pailapool, Two Arrested

In a major excise operation during the early hours of Friday (July 25), Cachar Police intercepted a container truck transporting a massive consignment of Arunachal manufactured liquor concealed under corrugated boxes of noodles near Pailapool, under Lakhipur Police Station in Cachar district.

The truck, bearing registration number AS-01RC-0153, was heading towards Jiribam in Manipur when it was stopped as part of a special checking drive.

Upon inspection, police recovered 120 cartons of Kingfisher beer (24 cans in each), 370 cartons of Old Monk Premium beer (24 cans in each), along with 530 cartons of Mimi noodles (60 packets in each) used to conceal the liquor. 

According to Cachar Police, all seized liquor items were manufactured for sale exclusively in Arunachal Pradesh. The estimated value of the recovered items is around Rs. 15 lakh.

Two individuals identified as Subir Kumar and Akshay Kumar, both residents of Motihari, Bihar, were arrested on the spot.

Police suspect the consignment was being smuggled into Manipur through Cachar and are investigating the source and intended network behind the illegal transportation.
