Decomposed Bagged Body Of Missing Woman Found In Borkhola After 6-Days, Mystery Shrouds Death

A pall of shock gripped Chandpur after the decomposed, bagged body of a missing woman was recovered from a water body on Saturday (July 26), six days after her mysterious disappearance.

The victim has been identified as Salima Begum, a resident of Chandpur Part III under the Borkhola constituency in Cachar. According to family members, on the night of July 21, Salima finished dinner and went to sleep at the shop adjacent to their house for security purposes. The next morning, her family discovered the shop locked from the outside.

Initially assuming she had stepped out, they waited, but when her phone remained switched off and enquiries with relatives yielded no trace, they filed a missing person’s report at the Bhangarpar police outpost.

On Saturday, locals spotted a body floating in a water body in Chandpur and informed the police. Officers from the Bhangarpar outpost arrived at the scene and retrieved the decomposed body, later identified as Salima Begum. Shockingly, her remains were found stuffed inside plastic gunny bags, raising suspicions of foul play.

Police have sent the body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
