Driver In Cachar Police Victim: Pulak Malakar’s Botched Surgery In Nari Sikshashram Led to Stillbirth

The investigation into alleged fake gynaecologist Pulak Malakar, accused of treating patients and performing critical surgeries at multiple private nursing homes in Silchar, has taken a new turn. In a fresh development, a driver employed under the Assam Police in Cachar has approached the police to file an FIR against Malakar.

According to the driver, when he visited Siva Sundari Nari Sikshashram, Park Road, Silchar, with his pregnant wife. Malakar allegedly advised an immediate caesarean section (C-section), citing multiple complications. Although the woman was 36 weeks pregnant, he insisted on proceeding with the surgery.

The patient’s attendants initially resisted, but, unfamiliar with medical jargon and reassured only by Malakar’s dire warning that the baby would die without surgery, they agreed to the procedure. The operation was conducted at Siva Sundari Nari Sikshashram, but tragically, the baby was “stillborn”, meaning the baby was born without signs of life — it had died in the womb before or during delivery.

The family alleges the premature surgery — performed before the typical 40-week term — was the cause.
