Two Youths Stabbed in Broad Daylight at Gumra Bazar, Accused Absconding
A shocking stabbing incident took place in broad daylight at Gumra Bazaar under Katigorah constituency in Cachar on Friday (October 17), leaving two youths critically injured. The injured have been identified as Dilwar Hussain and Abdullah Talukdar, both residents of Nishchintapur village.
According to Dilwar Hussain, a few days ago, while he was on night patrol duty as a security guard, around 2–3 AM along with three others, a youth named Parul arrived at the spot in an auto-rickshaw with a few of his associates. “When he came, I told him not to roam around as we were guarding the area. Since it’s the betel nut season, if anything gets stolen, people will blame us. He got angry and told me that he would stab me wherever he finds me. I replied that he can do whatever he wants, but at that moment I was doing my duty,” said the victim.
Dilwar further said that the next day, while he was eating sweets at a shop near the Gumra Police Investigation Centre, Parul allegedly attacked him and his friend Abdullah with a knife.
Both victims were first taken to Kalain CHC and later referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. The accused, Parul, is reportedly absconding.
The incident has sparked tension in the Gumra area, and police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
