ABVP Sweeps Assam University Students’ Union Election 2025, President-Elect Calls it GenZ Victory

Assam University, Silchar, witnessed a clean sweep by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)-backed candidates in the Students’ Union Election held on Monday (10 November). All ABVP-backed nominees secured victory, winning every contested position.

Rajkinkar Chakrabarty was elected President, while Kaushik Dasgupta won the post of General Secretary. Arpan Chakraborty and Mimangsha Koiri were elected Assistant General Secretary (Male) and Assistant General Secretary (Female), respectively. Arup Das emerged victorious as Magazine Secretary, and Samar Kant secured the post of Sports Secretary.

Two candidates — Jwngsat Basumatary (Vice-President) and Amaan Shah (Cultural Secretary) — were elected uncontested after other nominees withdrew their candidatures.

Speaking to Barak Bulletin about the landslide victory, President-elect Rajkinkar Chakrabarty said, “ABVP’s resounding victory at Assam University Students’ Union Elections is a testimony to the fact that Gen Z stands firmly against all the anti-national forces and for the holistic development of Assam University, Silchar.”

The election initially saw multiple contestants across positions, but several later withdrew, resulting in two uncontested posts. The remaining seats witnessed robust competition, with ABVP-backed candidates winning across the board.

During the campaign, all candidates — including those from ABVP — interacted with Barak Bulletin and pledged to serve the student community with sincerity and dedication. They assured to address students’ concerns and work towards a more inclusive and active campus environment.
