
Cachar To Host Day-Long Assam–Mizoram Border Festival In Dholai On Monday
The District Administration, Cachar, is gearing up to host a vibrant, day-long Border Festival in Dholai on Monday (November 24), bringing together communities from Assam and Mizoram in a spirited celebration of harmony, culture, and sports. A detailed preparatory meeting was held at the Co-District Commissioner’s Office, Dholai, on Thursday (November 20), where officials from both states reviewed all necessary arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the event.
The meeting saw participation from senior officials of Mizoram, including H. Vanlalbiakzauva, SDO (Civil), Vairengte, and Lalnufela Chawngthu, MCS, SDO (Sadar), Mamit. From the Cachar side, the session was chaired by the District Development Commissioner of Cachar, Norsing Bey, who emphasised the need for seamless coordination between both administrations. Co-District Commissioner, Dholai, Roktim Baruah, led the on-ground planning, while Assistant Commissioner and Block Development Officer (in charge), Dholai–Narsingpur Development Block, Neihat Haolai, Assistant Commissioner Bonnykha Chetia, Circle Officer, Sonai, Maria Tanim, and Assistant Commissioner & In-Charge, DDIPR Barak Valley Zone, Smt Deepa Das, assessed cultural, logistical, and security aspects.
On the day of the event, the B.N.M.P. School field will host a friendly football match followed by a volleyball match between teams from Cachar and Mizoram, symbolising unity and sportsmanship. Meanwhile, the CDC Dholai Office ground will set the stage for an engaging cultural programme featuring dynamic performances by cultural troupes from Vairengte and Mamit, alongside artistes from Cachar. The cultural showcase, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will highlight the rich traditions and shared heritage of the border communities.
Adding flavour to the celebrations, ASRLM will curate a variety of food stalls presenting traditional cuisines from the region, offering visitors an authentic taste of local delicacies.
With sports, culture, and community bonding at its core, the day-long Border Festival at Dholai aims to further strengthen inter-state relations while celebrating the vibrant spirit of the people living along the Assam–Mizoram border.
