
Body Recovered Near Kamranga Station On Silchar–Jiribam Railway Line
The body of a 27-year-old man was recovered near Kamranga Station on the Silchar–Jiribam railway line in Cachar district on Saturday (December 27), triggering an investigation by the police.
According to reports, passers-by spotted the body lying close to the railway tracks under the jurisdiction of Lakhipur Police Station and alerted the police. Lakhipur Police reached the spot and, as the body was found near the railway line, informed the Railway Police. Personnel from Silchar arrived and recovered the body, which was later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Shahed Ahmed (27), a resident of Tarinipur First Part under Katigorah Police Station in Cachar district. He was reportedly working as a scrap vendor in the Chiripul Gobinda Nagar area under the Lakhipur Assembly constituency. Family members said he had left home for work two to three days ago and did not return.
Police said the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. However, injury marks were found on his head and legs. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to his death.
