20-Year-old Youth Killed In Hit-And-Run At Haticherra

A 20-year-old youth was killed in a road accident at Haticherra on Thursday evening after a vehicle allegedly hit his scooter and fled the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Biprajit Roy (20), a resident of Rongpur, Silchar.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 7 PM on March 5 near the Bon Durga Temple beside Haticherra Tea Garden. Biprajit was travelling on a scooter from Rangpur towards Dolu when a vehicle allegedly coming from the wrong side hit him on the highway and fled immediately after the collision.

Due to the impact, Biprajit died on the spot. His body was later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

After receiving information, DSP Dilraj Pathak, Udharbond Police Station OC Timung, Silchar Traffic In-charge Dipankar Das, and police personnel from the Malugram outpost rushed to the spot and began a preliminary investigation.

Locals could not confirm the identity of the vehicle involved. Police have launched an investigation to identify the vehicle responsible for the alleged hit-and-run.
