Silchar: School Turns Into a Pond Ahead of Exams, Guardians Warn of Protest
Students, teachers and guardians of 365 No. North Krishnapur Primary School in Silchar are facing severe difficulties due to waterlogging inside the school premises. Water has entered several classrooms and other parts of the school, disrupting normal academic activities and making access to the school difficult.
The problem came to light on June 8 when local residents and guardians raised concerns over the condition of the school. According to them, students were scheduled to begin their examinations on June 9, but the waterlogged campus has made it difficult to conduct classes and examination-related activities.
Teachers are also reportedly facing difficulties entering the school due to the accumulated water. Guardians expressed concern about the safety and well-being of students and said the situation has affected the learning environment.
Local residents and guardians alleged that the waterlogging was caused by faults in the drainage system around the school. They have urged the district administration and the education department to inspect the school and take immediate steps to resolve the issue.
A representative of the guardians said that if the drainage problem is not fixed and the situation remains unresolved within a week, they will launch a larger protest. He claimed that guardians and residents from across the village would participate in the agitation.
