Silchar Imperial Mall Spa Case: Two More Detained as Police Intensify Search for Absconding Owners
Cachar Police on Monday (June 29) have detained two more persons for questioning in connection with the alleged prostitution racket operating under the guise of spa centres at Imperial Mall in Silchar. The action comes as the police continue to intensify their investigation and search for the absconding owners of the two spas.
A large police team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rajat Kumar Pal, conducted another operation at Imperial Mall on Monday. During the visit, police questioned the owners of the rooms where the two spa centres had been operating. Following the questioning, two security guards working at the spas were detained on suspicion of having links to the case.
Speaking to the media, ASP Rajat Kumar Pal said the investigation is progressing and that legal action will be taken if anyone’s involvement is established. He said police have gathered some evidence and have detained the two security guards for questioning. He also confirmed that the owners of the spas are currently absconding and efforts are underway to trace and arrest them.
Police said they are also investigating whether a larger organised network was involved in the operation of the alleged racket.
The case stems from a police raid conducted on the night of June 25 at Lovely Spa and Lotus Spa, located on the top floor of Imperial Mall on Club Road. During the operation, police detained 28 women, including 21 from Lovely Spa and seven from Lotus Spa. Cash and items suspected to be linked to immoral activities were also seized from the premises.
