
Bangladeshi in Hailakandi: Police Detain Sylhet Resident
A Bangladeshi national has been detained in Hailakandi district after allegedly entering India through an illegal route along the India-Bangladesh border in Sribhumi district. The accused, identified as Sahed Ahmed, was apprehended by Hailakandi Police from Palaichera Second Part under the jurisdiction of the Jamira Police Outpost following a tip-off.
Sahed Ahmed is a resident of Rasulpur village under Zakiganj Police Station in the Sylhet district of Bangladesh. According to police, he had been staying in Palaichera village for the past few days after allegedly crossing into India through an unauthorised route along the international border.
The case also revealed that Ahmed’s wife and daughter had reportedly been living in Palaichera village for around two and a half years. According to the information available, Ahmed had come to Hailakandi to take his daughter.
Speaking to the media after his detention, Ahmed claimed that he had crossed the India-Bangladesh border without paying anyone and without being intercepted by security personnel. He also said he had come to Hailakandi for his wife and daughter, who had been living in the village for the past two years.
Hailakandi Police have taken Ahmed into custody and are continuing to interrogate him. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances of his alleged illegal entry into India and any other aspects connected to the case.
