
Head-on Auto-rickshaw Collision in Kalain Injures Nine, Including Two Schoolgirls
Nine people, including seven passengers and two auto-rickshaw drivers, were injured in a head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws at Lakshmipur in Kalain, Cachar, on Friday (July 10).
The accident took place on National Highway 6 when the two vehicles reportedly collided head-on. Among the injured are two schoolgirls. All the injured were rescued and admitted to Kalain Government Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Their current condition is yet to be officially confirmed.
According to available information, a petrol-powered auto-rickshaw bearing registration number AS 24AC 2379 was travelling from Katigorah towards Kalain. Another diesel-powered auto-rickshaw bearing registration number AS 11DC 5929 was on its way towards Hilara. Preliminary reports suggest that both vehicles were moving at a high speed and lost control before colliding.
The impact of the collision threw the passenger-carrying diesel auto-rickshaw off the road. Local residents rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and shifted them to the hospital for medical treatment.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially established. Further details are awaited.
