
Kalain: Son Kills Mother Inside Home, Villagers Hand Him Over to Police
A 65-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her son in Bhatgram village under Kalain on Tuesday afternoon (August 4), according to local residents. The accused has been detained by villagers and handed over to the police. Another woman was also seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked by the accused.
The deceased has been identified as Jhurina Begum, while the accused is her 40-year-old son, Altai Uddin. The incident took place at around 2 pm inside their house in Bhatgram.
According to local residents, Altai Uddin had allegedly been pressuring his mother to sell the family property and had reportedly been subjecting her to mental harassment for the past few days. Villagers alleged that when other family members were away from home, he attacked his mother with a sharp weapon, leading to her death.
After the incident, villagers who rushed to the spot were allegedly attacked by the accused. A woman identified as Alimun Nessa sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Residents eventually overpowered Altai Uddin after a struggle and handed him over to the police.
The alleged motive behind the attack is believed to be a dispute over property, according to local residents. Police are investigating the incident and have not yet officially confirmed the motive. Further investigation is underway.
