
A Son of Cachar Comes Home: Final Tribute Paid to Jawan Nikash Das
A solemn farewell was given to Nikash Das, a jawan from Cachar who passed away while serving on duty in Jammu, as his mortal remains were brought to Silchar on Monday.
Minister Kaushik Rai paid his final respects to Das in Silchar. Following the tribute, his mortal remains were taken to his native place in Ratanpur Colony in an organised rally, with people gathering along the route to pay their respects.
Das had been posted in Jammu and reportedly fell ill while performing his duty. He later passed away while serving there.
Das hailed from Ratanpur Colony under Barsangan Grant and Barsangan Gram Panchayat, with Barsangan as his post office.
His mortal remains were taken home in the presence of family members, relatives and local residents, who gathered to bid him a final farewell.
