ABVP Announces Free Review Mechanism Amid Growing FYUG Result Controversy
Amid mounting complaints over the recently declared Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUG) examination results, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Assam University Unit, on Wednesday (June 3) announced that students with grievances regarding their marks can seek a review through their respective colleges without paying any fee.
The announcement followed a meeting between ABVP representatives and the Controller of Examinations of Assam University. According to the student organisation, affected students can submit applications along with copies of their marksheets to their college offices by June 8. Colleges will forward the applications to the university’s examination branch by June 12 for examination and necessary action.
The development comes as students across multiple colleges affiliated with Assam University continue to question the accuracy of the FYUG results. Numerous students have shared marksheets on social media showing unusually low marks, including cases where students allegedly received zero, two, four or fourteen marks across several subjects.
In a video statement, ABVP Assam University Unit President Deboraj Das said the Controller of Examinations informed the organisation about the grievance redressal mechanism. He also sought to address claims that Assam University itself awards low marks to students.
According to Das, answer scripts are evaluated within designated zones operated by affiliated colleges, while the university’s role is limited to compiling and uploading the marks received from those centres. He said ABVP had requested the examination authorities to investigate whether the alleged discrepancies originated at the zonal level and to ensure that students receive marks they deserve in future examinations.
On June 2, Assam University issued a notification opening the online re-check and re-evaluation process for FYUGP Odd Semester Examination, November 2025. The portal will remain open from June 5 to June 11.
As per the notification, students seeking re-evaluation must pay Rs 200 per paper, while re-checking or scrutiny will cost Rs 100 per paper. A grade card processing fee of Rs 50 has also been prescribed. The university clarified that re-evaluation is not applicable to practical examinations and that the revised result, if any, will be treated as final.
