Alleged Rape Inside Top Hotel In Silchar: Police Arrests Three Suspect
A minor girl from New Silchar was allegedly sexually assaulted through the night inside a hotel room in Silchar after she was called there for a party on November 9 (Sunday). Police have arrested three youths from Rongpur — Swarup Das, Rahul Das, and Abhishiek Roy, alias Shubham — in connection with the case.
According to the minor (under the age of 18) survivor’s statement, Swarup, invited her for a party at the Park Road hotel. Inside one of the rooms, Swarup allegedly forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her throughout the night, while the other two allegedly assisted him. The next morning, November 10 (Monday), she escaped and somehow managed to reach home. She narrated the incident to her family, following which an FIR was lodged.
Based on the FIR, Silchar Police registered a case under Sections 64(1)/127(2)/74/76/324(4) of the BNS read with Sections 4/8 of the POCSO Act. On Monday night, police arrested the three accused after preliminary evidence supported the survivor’s complaint. They were produced before the court on Tuesday, and with the court’s permission, they were taken into police custody for interrogation.
Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das (IPS) confirmed the arrests, identifying the accused as:
- Swarup Das, 26, S/O Satyendra Das of Koratigram, Rongpur Part-4, PS Silchar
- Rahul Das, 31, S/O Lt. Dipak Kumar Das of Rongpur Part-4, Gangapara, PS Silchar
- Abhishiek Roy, 24, alias Shubham, S/O Lt. Debasish Roy of Rongpur Part-4, Gangapara, PS Silchar
Swarup is the main accused and has been booked under the stringent POCSO Act. Rahul Das, who allegedly booked the hotel room, will also face action under relevant BNS sections, Cachar Police said.
Meanwhile, sources close to Swarup have claimed that the allegations are false and that a dispute over a mobile phone during the party led to the “false complaint”.
The incident has sparked a serious question: How did a posh Silchar hotel allow four guests — three adult men and an unrelated minor — to stay in a single room? Did the hotel ignore ID verification, or were the guests allowed because they paid well? Along with the rape allegations, these questions have now also become central to the investigation, as concerns grow over the hotel’s alleged negligence and possible policy violations.
Police interrogation continues as the case unfolds.
