12-year-old boy murdered in Madarsa in Dholai, throat slit while sleeping

A 12-year-old Madrasa student was brutally murdered at Hawaithang Darus Salam Hafizia and Aliya Madrasa under Dholai Police Station area. At around 3:30 am in the dawn, a student woke up to give the Fajr call to prayer and saw blood spilled in the room. After careful observation he saw that his classmate Rojimul’s throat was slit. Rojimul was sleeping on the bed with other students. Immediately the matter was informed to others in the Madrasa. People gathered as soon as the news of the incident spread.  

The news reached the Police and Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta alongwith Dholai Police Station Officer in-Charge Manoj Baruah reached the spot. Sonai Circle Magistrate Maria Tanim also arrived at the scene. Police recovered the dead body in the presence of the Magistrate and sent it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Later, the Madrasa was sealed by Dholai Police. They barricaded various areas inside as well as prohibiting entry for public.

Launching an investigation into the incident, the Police have arrested three people till now. The Police are interrogating 20 other students in the madrasa.

It maybe noted that in 2013, local Maulana Fakhrul Islam established a Madrasa called Daruch Salam Hafizia and Alia Madrasa. Some students used to study in the madrasa by staying in it’s hostel. On the day of the incident, there was one teacher, one watchman and at least 20 students. In the room where the murder took place, six other students along with the murdered youth were sleeping. The mysterious murder case has not been solved yet.

Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta is investigating the incident. People are hopeful that the culprit behind Rojimul’s murder will come out very soon.

Rojimul Hussain Laskar, is the son of Zainal Hussain Laskar, a resident of Frenchnagar village and used to study at the Madrasa while staying at it’s hostel.
