15-year-old allegedly gang raped in Cachar; Police arrests 2, few are still absconding

Gruesome reports coming in from Silchar’s Chuto Dudpatil area. A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been gang raped by four men. The family members of the victim has lodged an FIR stating that the minor girl has been gang raped.

On the night of March 14, the miscreants allegedly misguided the 15-year-old to a field. As she was being called by a married man, she trusted him and that was her fault. He took her to an open field of a High School and there three others joined him and allegedly forced them on her.

Upon receiving the complaint, Cachar Police launched an investigation and arrested two individuals identified as Bappan Ghosh (27) and Bappi Das (23). Two individuals are still absconding and the Police officials are in the process of tracing them.

The officer in charge said that the medical reports are still awaited. “The complaint that we have received states that she was gang raped. However, we are waiting for the medical reports. Once we have a detailed report we will be in a better position to make a comment,” said the officer in charge.

Today, the two arrested individuals will be produced before the judge. Following which, the future course of action will be determined.
