20-year-old Assam boy commits suicide in Surat; neighbours feel he was depressed after losing job
A 20-year-old boy who hails from the Bongaigaon district in Assam has committed suicide in Surat. As per the officials from Pandesara Police Station in Gujarat, the deceased was found hanging with the fan at his rented apartment.
“Identified as Reza, the deceased used to reside in a rented apartment on the fourth floor of a multi-storey building in Bhestan area. As per the available information, his fellow roommates had left for their respective hometowns and he was living alone. Right opposite his apartment, there were four other tenants who also happen to hail from Assam. We broke inside his house and found him dead on Wednesday,” said the officer-in-charge of Pandesara Police Station while speaking to Barak Bulletin.
His neighbours who also spoke with Barak Bulletin said that Reza used to work at a factory that was shut immediately after the lockdown was announced and since then he has remained depressed. They also asses that Reza was under financial pressure and that could be one of the reasons why he decided to kill himself.
“We are not aware of any of that. We did not find any suicide note from his residence and it is too early to speculate,” said the OC of Pandesara Police Station.
