3 death at SMCH; 63 fresh COVID cases in Cachar, downward trend continues
On the 26th of January, the Cachar district reported 63 fresh COVID cases, according to the media bulletin published by National Health Mission, Assam. 21 cases were recorded on RTPCR while 42 of the 63 were recorded on the Antigen Test. The total number of cases recorded in the state today stands at 1951, according to the bulletin. Neighbouring districts, Hailakandi and Karimganj recorded 10 and 30 cases respectively. The NHM Bulletin also stated one death in the district today.
The Silchar Medical College and Hospital’s media bulletin reported 18 fresh COVID cases on the 26th of January. Currently there are 23 active COVID patients in the Medical College undergoing treatment. 6 patients are on Ventilator and 17 on Oxygen support. 4 new patients were newly admitted to the hospital today while 5 patients got discharged.
In the last 24 hours, three patients were declared dead by the hospital, the bulletin stated. 74 year old Ananda Das Baishnab of Kalain succumbed due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, uremic encephalopathy and Acute Kidney Injury. His time of death was 6:30 AM. Rabi Thapa, who was admitted on the 24th January also died on the same date due to Hepatic Encephalopathy, pneumonia and Chronic Liver Disease. He was a resident of Boidura in the Dima Hasao district. Other than that, 50 year old Nayantara Das from Malini Beel was declared a “brought dead case” at 01:00 PM on the 26th January.
According to the National Health Mission Assam Media Bulletin, there were 272 positive cases on 21st January, which came down to 198 on the 22nd and 77 on 23rd. But on the 24th the positive cases went up again to 172, on 25th the number stood at 119 and today it was 63. The number of positive cases are definitely coming if the media bulletin is to be believed. Is the end of the third wave?
