33 positive in Cachar; 2 critical in SMCH; 4 in Hailakandi, 13 in Karimganj
For the second consecutive day, Assam has reported more than 1000 Covid positive cases. According to the figures shared by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, 1,651 individuals have tested positive. 67,151 samples were tested on Tuesday. The positivity rate has gone up from 2.09 yesterday to 2.46 per cent today.
It is worth mentioning here that the final number of positive cases in Cachar yesterday stood at 60, the highest so far in 2021. Today till 10:00 pm, the number of positive cases in the district is 33.
As shared by the vice principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, 32 patients are currently admitted to the hospital. Six of them are in ICU. Dr. Gupta said, there are two patients on Ventilator and both of them are in “very critical” condition. He informed that there is no death till now at SMCH.
However, according to the records shared by the National Health Mission – Assam, one individual from Cachar district died on April 20. Who is that individual? District administration replied saying there is no death today and it is possible that the NHM has counted yesterday’s death in today’s bulletin.
In Hailakandi district, four fresh COVID cases were detected taking the tally up to 3,388. The district currently has seven active COVID-19 cases while 3,358 patients have recovered from the disease.
In Karimganj district, 1127 samples were tested on Tuesday and 13 individuals have tested positive for the virus. On the other hand, 13 patients were discharged from the hospital keeping the number of active cases at 100.
