The number of COVID cases continue to rise hinting towards a new wave of infections. According to the data shared by the Cachar District administration, on July 15, 35 samples have tested positive. A total of 133 samples were tested using RAT and another 13 using RTPCR.

With this, the number of active cases in Cachar rose to 89. 112 individuals have tested positive so far. What comes in as an important insight is the fact that not a single patient had to be hospitalised so far, indicating infections to be mild or moderate.

According to the data shared by the NHM Assam, yesterday, 707 individuals tested positive for COVID19 in Assam and two individuals have lost their lives. Currently, there are 3,150 active cases in the state.

There are anxiety among general public to know if the variant is the same that was there early in the year – Omicron or Delta that was detected before. “RTPCR positive samples will be sent for Sequencing. But the samples which are positive are RAT positive,” informed a professor at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

So, there is no clarity on the variant of the virus.
