4.9 on Richter scale earthquake jolts Guwahati and other parts of Assam
A moderate intensity earthquake has shaken whole of Guwahati and other parts of Assam. At around 10.24 AM in the morning the tremors were felt throughout the state capital. Reports suggest the epicentre of the quake was in Nagaon District in Assam.
A resident of Guwahati’s Beltola area felt it was one of the strongest quake of recent times. She stays in the fourth floor of a multi-story building and according to her shock was far stronger than 4.9.
Many residents rushed out of their homes out of panic, the residents tell us the quake was felt for about half a minute.
The quake did not impact Barak Valley at all, and till the time the report was filed no information of any loss was reported anywhere in whole of Assam.
