5 people arrested in connection with clash between communities at Kalibari Chor, mastermind still on the loose

5 people have been arrested in connection with the clash between communities that happened in Kalibari Char yesterday. The arrested are Saheb Ahmed, Joynul Haque Laskar resident of Modhurbond, Ripon Hussain Laskar of Water Works Road, Oliullah Laskar, Chabir Hussain. The arrested were produced before court. Police have been unable to catch the mastermind behind the attack, Selim.

Speaking to reporters Cachar SP said, “Yesterday night a clash happened between two communities while playing cricket match. In connection with the incident, a boy named Subhash Das sustained injuries. So today we came to SMCH to enquire about his health. We talked to the doctors and they have given him medication. The doctors have told that he will be released soon and can take rest at home. We are currently investigating the incident which led to clash between the two communities. We spoke to Das and asked about a few names who might be involved in yesterday’s brawl but he is not doubting anyone as it was dark so he couldn’t identify the culprits. We are currently interrogating a few people involved in the incident. We will also talk to the people who organised the tournament and sort it out. Currently police is deployed in the area.”

Yesterday night at around 10 pm Subhash Das was allegedly stabbed by miscreants at a Night Tournament match organised by Titans Club at the the playground of Cachar sporting. He was later rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Additional SP of Police, Crime branch, Dr. Kalyan Das rushed to the spot within minutes and with the help of CRPF deployment brought the situation under control. One rider of Cachar Police got injured as the two parties started pelting stones on each other. The situation in the area remains tensed.
