8,784 beneficiaries took vaccine on day 1 of GP-wise vaccination drive; DC Cachar lauds efforts of Health team

Cachar district administration formally announced the commencement of the Gaon Panchayat-wise vaccination drive. Today, the deputy commissioner of Cachar along with other senior officials inaugurated the programme at Madripar LP School under Badri-Chandrapur GP.

The drive was conducted in 29 GPs today and will continue till all GPs are covered. Today, 8,784 doses were inoculated. DC Cachar, Keerthi Jalli lauded the efforts of the team executing the drive. “Health team has shown it again,” she says.

“First day of GP-wise vaccination drive was extremely successful with 8,700 odd vaccines given purely in rural areas. People came forward not giving in to any rumours and false apprehensions. That is the biggest achievement. My thanks to all MLAs, GP presidents, AP and ZP members, all SDMHOs, BPMs, LT, MPW, SW, ANM, AWW and others who have come together as one and have proven yet again that Cachar stands together in the fight against the pandemic,” the deputy commissioner said while speaking with Barak Bulletin.  

Silchar MLA, Dipayan Chakraborty posted on his Facebook wall about the vaccination drive. He stated, “Today special vaccination drive started at rural areas after completion in urban areas.

Special thanks to Hon’ble CM, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for initiating this activity and keeping the rural people close to his heart.”

It is worth mentioning here that the team of Healthcare workers in Cachar managed to test 12,726 samples today.
