Mr. and Miss Calendar, 2019’ to be held at Banga Bhavan on January 5

Pratiksha Fashion Studio and Portfolio Agency, a Silchar-based portfolio agency, is going to organise a pageant contest – Mr. and Miss Calendar, 2019 at Banga Bhavan in Silchar on January 5 (Saturday).

Dr. Pinak Mahanta, proprietor-cum-managing director of the agency, told reporters at a news conference in Silchar on Wednesday that the main objective of organising the contest is to provide a platform to the aspiring models of Silchar and Barak Valley to showcase their talent and encourage them towards the field of glamour and fashion.

About the event, he said there would be rounds like introduction-round, ramp-walk and QnA round regarding the Mr. and Miss Calendar 2019 contest. Besides, there will be contests for kids (male and female) in two categories – Master Hero and Miss Diva, 2019. For kids’, there will be a single round for both the categories, he said.

The event’s official calendar will be launched during the show. Apart from the contestants of Mr. and Miss Calendar 2019, the calendar will feature the junior contestants (kids) as well, he said.

Renowned fashion stylist from Guwahati Bhaskar Saikia will be present as one of the judges at the contest. Two other judges will be present. The names, however, have not been finalised yet.

The event, which will start at 5 pm on Saturday, will also have dance performances and other cultural programmes from different groups. The winners will get mementos, gift-hampers, and free portfolios. Various subtitles will be also there for the contestants, Mahanta said.

Soma Mahanta, the chief advisor of the agency, said the preparations of the event started around three months back with auditions for selection of the contestants, their grooming and other related aspects. “It has been a long, hectic process altogether,” she said.

“A total of 42 contestants (17 male and 25 female) have been selected for Mr. and Miss Calendar 2019. Besides, 45 kids have been selected for Master Hero and Miss Diva 2019. The senior contestants were groomed by Chandan Chutiya and Sangita Deb, while the junior contestants were groomed by Sangita Das,” she said.

Shikha Acharjee, the proprietor of Shree’s Beauty and Makeup Studio, said the contest has provided a launch-pad to a number of aspiring models of the valley to showcase their flair on bigger platforms. She hoped that the event would receive an overwhelming response from the fashion-lovers of Silchar. Shree’s Beauty and Makeup Studio is the title sponsor of the event.
