A huge gathering of students was witnessed today near the administrative building of the Guru Charan College college. An unusual happening as per college routine, it was further joined by sudden drum rolls in the campus.

The gathering was to witness the first day of the events which, the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of the college has taken up.

The event started at 12 in the noon, with 13 students from various departments of the second semester performing a street play. The play beautifully displayed the importance of voting and why everyone should vote. The inclusion of NOTA and its function was also mentioned.

The Vice-Principal of the college, Ashes Bhattacharjee was very happy to see the efforts of the students to make people aware and said, “I thank all the members of ELC for taking up this step and I urge everyone to vote and exercise their democratic right.”

Swarupa Bhattacharjee, the convenor of the club expressed her happiness and gratitude to the Election Commission for selecting GC College for this prestigious awareness drive. Mrinmoy Nath from the Election Office of District Administration said, “Well done team ELC GC College, excellent efforts and I’m thankful to you all”.

Other than the street play, the club also organised an Open-Quiz on the same awareness theme. Winners were given pens per correct answer. In the end, all the students of the college present took an oath for a free and fair vote.

As per sources, the team will visit many other areas of the town with the awareness play. Ashram Road point, Ambikapatty Chowrongee, Gopinath Point, Capital Point and many other primary points are in the list as of now.
