Cachar police apprehends two drug smugglers carrying 85 kgs ganja

On Tuesday morning, following tipoff from sources about a truck traveling from Baradpur to Lakhipur with cannabis, Cachar Police caught hold of the vehicle.

After receiving the information, the team deployed forces at various places and the truck was successfully chased down by Baskandi PIC personnel.

After searching the vehicle, 85 kgs of Ganja in 4 packets were recovered from a secret box near the driver’s seat. In the same case, two people namely Paweter Singh, aged 45 and Rommy aged 32, both from Punjab have been apprehended.

During interrogation they revealed that they smuggled the drugs packet from Agartala to Silchar via Badarpur. They were trying to carry it forward to Silchar but because of police presence they had entered Lakhipur.
