Cachar police seizes 17 kgs of ganja in Jirighat

Acting on a tip off, Cachar Police along with 37 Assam Rifles, on Tuesday seized seventeen kilos of ganja (marijuana) in Jirighat of Cachar district.

During the raid, that was conducted at the Diglangmukh Punjee (Natun Basti) under Jirighat Police Station, one drug peddler was also nabbed. The peddler has been identified as Fakrul Hussain Mazumder (23), a resident of Makhannagar under Jirighat in Cachar district.

17 kilos of ganja was seized from his possession and the suspect was taken to Jirighat Police Station for a thorough interrogation. A case vide Jirighat Police Station Case No.9/2020 U/S-20(b) NDPS Act has been registered in connection with this.

“He delivered the items to one Ringsan Hmar S/O – Laringhthang Hmar of the said village. But he succeed to flee away from the spot seeing the police party. We are still searching his possible hiding points with Jirighat PS personnel.” a police statement said.
