IT raid at a multi-storey under-construction building in Hospital Road

Officials from the Income Tax Department cooperated by Assam Police, is conducting a raid at an under-construction multi-storey building in Hospital Road Silchar. Located adjacent to the main road, the building, as per sources is owned by Dipankar Deb.

A senior official from the Assam Police who was at the spot informed that the raid is being conducted by the Income Tax department and it started at around 8:00 AM in the morning. CISF officials have guarded the entrance of the building and it is only the income tax officials who are inside conducting the raid.

As per reports, Dipankar Deb is allegedly involved in betel nut scam and has a role to play in the illegal smuggling of subsidised fertilizers.

The Police officials or the officials from the Income Tax department refused to comment on this.
