Man cheated in an ATM booth; Rs 70,000 gone, FIR lodged

Elderly man Sujit Kumar Dey entered the ATM booth in National Highway Road Silchar at around 8:30 AM in the morning. He tried to withdraw money from his account but failed to do so. A young unidentified individual who was standing in the queue offered to help. Sujit Kumar Dey handed over his ATM card and asked the unidentified individual to help him withdraw money. The young individual asked him to enter the pin and Dey feels that while he was doing so, the young fellow was keeping a close eye on his fingers.

However, Dey withdrew money and went back home. In the evening he handed over the ATM card to his son and asked him to withdraw some more cash. When his son picked up the ATM card he realised that this is not Sujit Kumar Dey’s card instead it is someone else’s.

They immediately started checking messages in mobile phones and found out that there are two messages, one about the Rs 20,000 withdrawal and another about a purchase of Rs 50,000.

Sujit Kumar Dey and his son filed an FIR at National Highway Police Outpost and they said they are disappointed at the way Police officials responded to their complaint.
