Coronavirus outbreak: CBSE boards, JEE postponed
On Wednesday, The Ministry of Human Resource Development ordered educational institutions to postpone all ongoing examinations for 10 days in view of the coronavirus outbreak. Following which, the CBSE Board deferred all 10th and 12th class exams scheduled between March 19 to 31. The rule applies to the CBSE Board, university examination and JEE (MAIN).
“While maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents,” HRD secretary Amit Khare said in official communication.
He added that New examination schedule will be notified by March 31 after “re-assessment of the situation, “All the ongoing examinations, including CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)board exams, be postponed till March 31 and rescheduled thereafter.
Till now, India has seen 151 cases of coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the nation on Thursday evening on the situation arising out of the outbreak and the efforts to combat it.
