Dr. Monika Deb tests negative, Rudra Narayan Gupta still positive for COVID 19
On July 6, director of Green Heals Hospital Rudra Narayan Gupta and Gynecologist Dr. Monika Deb tested COVID positive. As per protocol, after four days in treatment, both Gupta and Deb were tested again.
On July 12, the officials in Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that Dr. Deb has tested negative for COVID 19 and will now be kept under observation in the non-infected zone. However, the Rudra Narayan Gupta tested positive for COVID 19 for the second time and will remain under treatment at the COVID block in SMCH.
“My COVID status is still positive but the good news is doctors are saying that parameters have significantly improved and soon I may test negative. Thank you for your support. I am asymptomatic and fully confident that within a few days everything will be back to normal,” said Gupta.
Deb who tested negative said, she is happy that nobody from her contact list was found infected. That included her assistant at the chamber, her patients, family, and friends. “While in isolation at the COVID block, I realised how much people love their doctors,” said Deb. Adding, “I have kept a few messages that I received with me, they are truly inspiring.”
However, the doctor feels that it would be a challenge explaining it to her patients that she cannot attend them for a while. “All they want to know is when I will start treating patients again, they don’t understand the isolation and home quarantine. Since I have tested negative, they expect me to attend them. Most of them tell me where will we go if you are not treating us. They do not fear COVID, what they are worried about is not finding a doctor during labour,” said Deb.
