Pregnant lady, individual in police custody among 44 new COVID positive cases in Cachar

44 new COVID positive cases have been reported in Cachar on July 13. Out of them, one happened to be an individual in Lakhipur Police custody. Cachar district administration informed that the individual in custody was tested under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme.

Cachar SP, Manabendra Dev Ray confirmed that the individual was locked up in Lakhipur Police custody. “He has already been transferred by the administration and the remaining individuals in the custody will be tested for COVID 19 from tomorrow onward,” said SP Ray while speaking with Barak Bulletin.

Apart from the individual in jail, spokesperson of District Health Department informed that one pregnant lady, one police official, one doctor and several Indian Army, BSF, CRPF officials also tested positive.

The spokesperson from the district administration informed that most of the patients who tested positive today will be transferred to Palonghat Model Hospital. He added that the administration has also identified a couple of buildings in Cachar which will be converted to makeshift hospitals in order to facilitate treatment to the patients with COVID positive.

Till 9:00 PM a total of four slots were released by Silchar Medical College and Hospital and in those, a total of 44 individuals tested positive from Cachar. Due to security reasons, the administration has refused to share the name and details of the patients who tested positive on July 13.
