Earthquake of 4.0 magnitude jolts Barak Valley; Epicentre Hailakandi

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Assam’s Hailakandi at 4:25 AM, Saturday. This was declared by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the government’s nodal agency for monitoring seismic activity in the country.

The quake hit at a depth of more than 63 kilometres, the agency said.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.0, Occurred on 18-07-2020, 04:25:41 IST, Lat: 24.74 & Long: 92.60, Depth: 63 Km ,Location: 60km NE of Dharmanagar, Tripura, India” it mentioned.

The tremors were felt in the whole Barak Valley along with some neighboring states.
