141 positive for COVID 19 on Tuesday, 2 dead; DC Jalli urges people to get tested
Today, Cachar might break the one-day-highest record set so far. The administration has launched a massive testing drive in busy areas of the district. Using mobile vans, the officials from the district health department are visiting key localities and testing people using the rapid antigen test kit.
“Today’s number might break all the records but there is nothing to be worried about. This rise in number is due to the increase in the number of tests done in the district,” said the spokesperson from the district health department.
The spokesperson also added that two people passed away after testing positive for coronavirus. However, the COVID death audit team is yet to announce whether the patients died of coronavirus or not.
Meanwhile, Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli has appealed to the general public of the district to volunteer themselves and get tested. “The drive is on from Banskandi to Udharbond. The mobile teams are going there, please get tested, it is being done for the benefit of the people,” said Jalli.
She added, “It is my request to the general public, please do not harass the medical officials who are visiting your locality, they are really working hard, so support them.”
The DC said it is good that there is a rise in the number of cases, “The more we detect and isolate, the less is the chance of transmission. So, more tests are necessary and this drive must be supported,” the DC added.
During the testing drive, the administration noticed that many individuals say they are not prepared for isolation after testing positive. Since this is a testing-drive, the locals are not always informed in advance and that is why they find themselves underprepared. The administration urged the public to carry a few sets of clothes with them while going for tests. The administration also urged them to not ride or drive in their private vehicles and instead use public transport while going for tests.
