FIR lodged against a boy for allegedly uploading video with “objectionable content”; case registered
Another Facebook post creates controversy in Silchar. An FIR has been lodged against a Facebook account that goes by the name of Sahil Barlaskar.
According to the complaint, the said account posted a video on social media that can incite a communal clash and disturb peace and harmony in the state. The video features a young boy saying, “The Hindus of Assam have become very excited, if the Muslims of Silchar get on the road, I am warning that there won’t be space left for you,” (in Sylheti).
The FIR filed by Hindu Jagaran Mancha states, “With due respect, we would like to inform you that a person namely Sahil Barlaskar (as mentioned in his Facebook account) who is a resident of Silchar has posted an objectionable video on his Facebook account on August 6, 2020.”
Debdulal Bhattacharjee, Bhargab Bhattacharjee, Amit Roy, Sanjeeb Sinha we to Silchar Sadar Police Station to file the complaint. They alleged, “Where he has given line spread to the Hindu community of Assam. By posting such videos he tried to incite communal riots in our society. We believe his video can create social unrest and will disturb peace and harmony in our society.”
A case has been registered under Section 294 A and 67 of the Information Technology Act. Section 295 A for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs. And 67, IT Act for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form.
