A well planned premeditated incident: ADGP on bombing of Painom Upgraded LP School
Assam and Mizoram are at odds with each other since the past one month due to escalating boundary disputes between the two at the Assam-Mizoram border near Lailapur with each day forwarding to an advanced form of scuffle.
While only just a few days back a Bengali medium school located at Saihapui V under Lailapur area was bombed by miscreants yesterday again yet another bombing took place at the bordering village. This time it was the Upper Painom Upgraded LP School that the alleged Mizo miscreants bombed.
Today ADGP Mukesh Aggarwal, Police Commissioner of Barak Valley division, SSB in charge and other officers along with Deputy Commissioner of Cachar visited the area for taking stock of the situation.
Speaking to reporters ADGP Mukesh Agarwal said “This school was established by Cachar District Administration in 2003 located in Assam’s territory. The wordings written on the school wall corroborate the fact and there should not be any iota of doubt in it. Thirty five to forty students were enrolled in that school. We spoke to the locals and there’s a clear cut evidence of three explosions being carried out at that place last night by some miscreants causing extensive damage to the school. It was a very systematic and premeditated incident. We are taking up the case for further investigation.”
On being asked why Assam is bowing down and getting submissive infront of Mizoram, Aggarwal replied “We have clearly mentioned that we don’t want a fight. Even if they provoke us we always try to give a matured response. But everything has a limit and they are testing our patience. There have been some incidents and I can assure that we have taken them up at an appropriate and proper level. Infact, the bombing of Dholakhal LP School has been taken up by a Central Investigation Agency on Assam Government’s recommendation.”
Being questioned whether last night’s bombing was a retaliatory measure by Mizoram against recent Central force deployments the ADGP said “I can’t give any conclusive remark on that. Three companies of Central Forces have been deployed in Mizoram as well like we have. It would be premature to give an opinion like that because when the first school bombing happened there were no Central forces deployed. We have established records that both schools fall within the territory of Assam run by Cachar administration.”
