Engine of New Delhi – Agartala special Rajdhani Express derails; Services in Agartala – Dharmanagar section suspended

Train engine of the 02502 New Delhi – Agartala Special Rajdhani Express derailed today morning (18.12.2020) at about 10-45 hrs at Kumarghat station.

The NF Railways confirmed that no passenger coach was derailed in the incident. “There was no injury or casualty. The incident occurred at KM 74/6 in Dharmanagar – Agartala section under Lumding division of NFR,” informed CPRO of NF Railways Subhanan Chanda.

The media statement added that Accident Relief Train from Badarpur and Medical Relief team from Agartala have immediately started for the site on receipt of the information. “Senior railway
officials from Agartala and Karimganj are also rushing for the site with necessary men and materials,” informed Chanda.

As a result of the derailment normal running of trains in the Agartala – Dharmanagar section has been suspended. “Efforts are on to restore the train movement at the earliest,” the media statement concluded.
