Dilip Chandra Nath to remain vice chancellor of Assam University till “his successor is appointed”
Assam University’s vice chancellor, Dilip Chandra Nath’s tenure as the VC has come to an end. His continuation as the VC was questioned in many quarters. Today, the Registrar of Assam University Silchar, Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath issued a letter putting all confusion to bed.
The letter states, “In terms of first provision of Clause 4 of Statute 2 of Assam University Act, 1989; the Ministry of Education vide letter F.No.9-4/2021-CU-1 dated 15.5.2021 conveyed to the undersigned (Registrar) that the present Vice-Chancellor, Assam University may continue in office notwithstanding the expiry of the tenure till his successor is appointed and enters upon office or till further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Based on the letter from Ministry of Education’s letter, the Registrar processed the request. “Accordingly, the present Vice-Chancellor Professor Dilip Chandra Nath has been requested to continue. The undersigned (Registrar) is glad to inform that Prof. Nath has accepted the request.”
