Attempt to airlift patient fails today; Green Corridor again in Silchar tomorrow
Karimganj’s Nilmoni Road resident Raktim Das, his family members waited for hours at Silchar Airport but the Air Ambulance did not land. They had to return to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
As reported earlier by Barak Bulletin, 42-year-old Raktim Das was supposed to airlifted today at 11:30 am. Accordingly, Green Corridor was facilitated by Cachar Police but the Air Ambulance did not land. “Initially, they told us that the Air Ambulance took off from Guwahati and would land in 15-20 mins. But it did not. And after hours, we were told that due to technical problems, it cannot land today. Another attempt will be made tomorrow,” said Ratul Das, brother of Raktim Das.
Chief Executive Officer of DDMA, Cachar wrote to Superintendent of Police to arrange a green corridor tomorrow. “Raktim Das, age 42 years old, a resident of Nilmoni Road, Karimganj is admitted in Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), Ghungoor, Silchar and his condition is serious at present and for better treatment family members wants to shift the patient to Fortis Hospital, Kolkata. Family members have already arranged everything for air lifting of the patient by tomorrow i.e on 24th July,2021 at 9.30am,” stated the letter.
“In this connection I would like to request you to arrange “Green Corridor” for transportation of the patients from Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH),Ghungoor Silchar to Kumbhirgram Airport on 24th July,2021 at 9.30am,” added the letter.
Vice principal of SMCH professor Bhaskar Gupta informed, Raktim Das was admitted to the hospital on July 20 with fever, cough and shortness of breath for eight days . He was RAT positive on July 13 and was in home isolation. “Presently maintaining SPO2 with 15 litres oxygen and receiving medications as per state protocol,” said Dr. Gupta.
The family made arrangements for better treatment at Fortis Hospital in Kolkata. “Tomorrow, we will make another attempt to airlift the patient and hopefully, we will manage to attain success,” added Ratul Das.
