Landslide in Shillong route disrupts Silchar Guwahati road communication via Meghalaya

Road communication between Assam and Meghalaya by National Highway 06 has been disrupted following a massive landslide at Sonapur near Meghalaya border since Monday morning affecting vehicular traffic, an official release said.

The NH 06 not only connects Southern Assam and Meghalaya but also considered the lifeline of Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.

The landslide has occurred in the Kuliang village of East Jaintia hills district.

“There has been a Landslide at Kuliang Village on NH 06 as on 7 am of 02/08/2021. All efforts are on to clear the road asap” East Jaintia Hills Police said taking to facebook.

No injuries have been reported but the road on NH 06 at Kuliang strech is blocked as on 9:30 am, filing of this story. All efforts are on to clear the same as early as possible by the Meghalaya Police.

The commuters are however advised to avoid comming to the said strech of the NH 06 until the road is cleared.
