“The scenic beauty between Guwahati and Haflong is not that good,” Rajdeep Roy appeals for extension of Vistadome till Badarpur

Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy during the ‘Matter of urgent public importance in the Parliament of India, raised the issue of Vistadome Coaches. He mentioned to the honourable speaker that the North East Frontier Railway (NF Railways) has started the Vistadome special service between Guwahati and New Haflong.

Vistadome coaches offer a 360-degree view for the commuters to enjoy the scenic beauty of certain special routes. When former Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal had first proposed the Vistadome service, he had asked the department to furnish a plan to run Vistadome Special in the Lumding – Badarpur section. Earlier this year, after more than two years of first moving the proposal, the NF Railway started the Vistadome service between Guwahati and New Haflong betraying Barak Valley and the scenic beauty that lies within.

Today, MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy raised the issue in Parliament. He said, “I appeal to the honourable Railway Minister to extend the Vistadome Service till

“The scenic beauty between Guwahati and Haflong is not that good, therefore, it is my appeal to the honourable Railway Minister, if the project is extended till Badarpur then the commuters will be able to enjoy the rich scenery that lies in the NC Hills and Borail Range,” appealed the member of parliament.

It is worth mentioning here that Rajdeep Roy had earlier met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on August 11, 2021. After the meeting, MP Dr. Roy uploaded on Twitter an image with the minister captioning it, “Vistadome Coach will connect Barak Valley as assured by Ashwini Vaishnaw ji the new minister.”

It becomes clear that the Minister did not keep his assurance or he never assured. As it turns out, the MP is now appealing to the Minister belonging to the same party through the Speaker of the Parliament. It remains to be seen if the Railway Minister ignores or delays the MP’s proposal yet again.
