COVID: Four declared dead in SMCH including a 2-month-old and 8-year-old
Silchar Medical College and Hospital has reported four deaths in the last 24 hours, among them was a 2-month old infant. This is the highest death in the third wave of COVID.
According to the SMCH Media Bulletin, the four deceased are – Tulsi Das of 23 year, a resident of Srigouri, Karimganj. She succumbed to acute respiratory distress syndrome and Sepsis. Another, Sushama Sinha of 57 years, from Dholai, Katakhal, Cachar, died on the 25th at 6:20 AM due to Acute respiratory distress syndrome and Acute Kidney Injury.
The infant who died was Santanu Nath of 2 months 24 days from Dharmanagar, Tripura. He was declared brought dead patient at 01:30 in the late night. A kid of 8 years, Titu Nayek fro. Patherkandi, Karimganj, also passed away due to Severe Anemia with Congestive Cardiac Failure on 25th January.
This is a horrific number and a matter of serious concern. Other than the number of deaths, at 5PM on 25th January there were 26 active patients, according to the media bulletin. 5 patients are on Ventilator and 17 on Oxygen Support.
The media bulletin also reported, 24 RAT Positive cases and 13 RTPCR positive in the last 24 hours. Three patients were discarged whereas three new patients were admitted as well.
According to the National Health Mission Assam Media Bulletin, the positive cases in Cachar district is fluctuating. Even though it showing a downward curve but that’s not stagnant. There were 272 positive cases on 21st January, which came down to 198 on the 22nd and 77 on 23rd. But on the 24th the positive cases went up again to 172.
