Newborn abandoned in a sack near Link Road: Baby rescued and alive admitted to hospital for heat treatment
Cruelty seems to be on the rise as another baby boy was found abandoned today near a gutter in First Link Road Lane number 9. On February 18, early morning while passersby spotted a moving sack bag near a drain, it caught their attention. Suspecting something wrong might happen if they open the bag, Rangirkhari Police Outpost was called. In the presence of the police, the sack was opened and to everyone’s utter astonishment, it was a newborn baby. Childline Silchar 1098 was dialled in for help and the abandoned newborn along with the whole matter was handed over to their experts.
From the preliminary examination, the baby was found to be completely fit and fine. The newborn was then rushed to the Civil Hospital, Silchar for heat treatment. Someone might have abandoned the newborn baby boy in the darkness of the night to escape from any passerby’s eye. After heat treatment was done, the Childline officials took the matter for further investigation and handed the baby to Nivedita Nari Sangstha, a shelter home in Silchar for the necessary care of the unfortunate child.
Debashis Dey, an Official of the Childline’s Silchar office informed us about this unfortunate turn of events and said, “Today Childline received one abandoned newborn boy from First Link Road, Lane Number 9, Silchar. He was found packed inside a sack bag. Childline has first sent the baby for heat treatment and SMDCH and was later handed over to a shelter home in Silchar, Nivedita Nari Sangstha for care. We have taken the matter with grave seriousness for investigation”.
So far, the parents who abandoned this newborn couldn’t be found. “The reason behind the abandonment is also not known to us”, further informs the Official. Last month too a similar case was registered in Silchar when parents from Dharmanagar abandoned their specially-abled newborn daughter at a dumpster. Parents of that child Digbijoy Das and Sampi Deb were arrested by Cachar Police later. Hope in this case too justice is served to this newborn.
