Sonai, Lakhipur declared dry day as poll personnel reach respective booths for Municipal elections

Polling Personnels have reached their respective polling booths on Saturday for conducting the Sonai and Lakhipur Municipal Elections 2022. After collecting all the election-related instruments and materials from Silchar Govt. Boys School and Earl High School for Sonai and Lakhipur respectively, the officials have reached both the Municipalities for the elections which are to be held on Sunday.

On March 6, 14,570 eligible voters from Sonai, out of which 7,335 are males and 7,245 females will exercise their democratic rights. There are 33 contesting candidates from a total of 10 wards in that area. 15 polling booths have been earmarked and 52 Polling Personnel have been appointed for the smooth election procedure.

Similarly, in the Lakhipur area 9,791 voters, among which

4885 males and 8906 females will cast their votes and decide their local level government. It is worth mentioning here that, 12 “specially-abled” voters will also cast their vote for the nation-building in tomorrow’s election. The contest is among 28 candidates in ten wards of the municipality. 12 polling booths and 48 polling personnel will see the footfall of these voters on Sunday.

The District Administration has declared a “dry day” in these areas. Security has been beefed up in these areas for a successful electoral process.
