Storm wreaks havoc in Cachar; Strong wind uprooted many trees, one fell on a running car critically injuring 2

A sudden storm broke in Cachar district. The thunderstorm was unexpected and caught many off guard. As this is the month of Ramzan, many were traveling back to their respective homes after evening prayers.

At around 10:00 pm, a huge tree got uprooted by the strong breeze. In Katigorah’s Ganirgram area, the tree fell on a car plying on the road. The heavy branches crushed the car and the two seated inside got critically injured. Locals rushed to the spot to check on the people inside the car.

They found both driver and passenger are bleeding heavily. Both of them were rushed to the Kalain Hospital in critical condition. According to locals, the car belonged to East Katigorah Zila Parishad Member’s husband, Nazmul Haque.  Locals said he is critically injured and so is his driver.

Several other trees too got uprooted in Katigorah area due to the storm disrupting vehicular traffic. The cyclonic storm left its impact in Silchar town too. In Park Road area, a huge tree fell on the middle of the road.
