Driver from Cachar killed in landslip in Mizoram

Shahabuddin Laskar, resident of Rajghat, Dhalai lost his life in a landslide in Kaipang near Champai, Mizoram.

It is informed that Shahabuddin was driving towards Champai in his Bolero pick-up truck from his home. He saw the road was blocked due to a landslide near Kaipang; seeing the condition, Shahabuddin get off from his vehicle and walked to the place of the landslide and tried to clear the road by pushing the stones.

However, suddenly another Landslide hit the area, and Shahbuddin was dragged several hundred feet with the debris of soil and stones and was spot dead. A team of Mizoram police went to the place and recovered his lifeless body from underneath the debris and sent it for postmortem. Shahbuddin’s elder brother said that they got the news today in the morning. Local people informed them over the telephone that they are going to bring back his corpse for burial rituals.
